Biography<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After a Master of Science and Technology in biochemistry at the University of La Rochelle (France), Marylise Duperthuy completed her doctoral studies in microbiology at the University of Montpellier 2 under the supervision of Dr. Delphine Destoumieux-Garz\u00f2n (2007- 2010). She investigated the role of the OmpU porin of Vibrio splendidus<\/em> in the interaction with its host, the oyster Crassostrea gigas.<\/em> She investigated the resistance of the Vibrio<\/em> to the oyster’s antimicrobial peptides, its virulence, and its pathogenesis. Her doctoral study was nominated for the trophy of the best thesis of the French Institute for Research and Exploitation of the Sea (Ifremer) in 2011. Dr. Duperthuy completed a postdoctoral fellowship, followed by a research associate position in Prof. Sun Nyunt Wai\u2019s group at the University of Umea (Sweden) in the Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) Center (2011-2016). She was working on the role of bacterial outer membrane vesicles in resistance of Vibrio <\/em>to antimicrobial peptides. She joined the Department of Microbiology, Infectiology and Immunology at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al in 2016. Her research program aims to understand the bacterial interactions by focusing on the modulation of virulence by molecules produced by the microbiota, including antimicrobial peptides, as well as studying the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in Vibrio cholerae<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n
